"Sleeping Village" is a song by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath. It was released in 1970 as the sixth track on the band's self-titled debut album. The intro is "A Bit of Finger" on the North American version of the album, it is merged with "Warning".
About[]
The song is about a disaster about to befall upon an unsuspecting village. The Jew’s harp, in the beginning, was played by producer Rodger Bain.[1]

17 performances of Sleeping Village are alleged to have occurred, the majority of which being from 2005, the last year it was performed. The song was performed at least 3 times in 1970, of which one recording circulates. This single recording, dated to April 29th 1970, reveals that these early performances included a second verse not found on the studio version.
Trivia[]
One of the earliest Black Sabbath songs, they played it when they appeared on John Peel's Top Gear radio show In November 1969.[2]
The original title of the song was "Devil's Island".[3]
